落叶灌木或小乔木，高3-7米。枝与小枝具棱，干时褐色或灰褐色。叶片厚纸质或薄革质，椭圆状披针形至卵状披针形，变异较大，长6-8厘米，宽2-3.5厘米，先端尖或急尖，基部近圆形、楔形或渐窄，边缘具细锯齿，侧脉5-7对；叶柄短于1厘米。花序梗柔软，长5-7厘米，具1-2回分枝及数花；花4数，直径小于8毫米；花梗纤细，长6毫米；萼片近圆形，短小；花瓣淡红色至淡紫色，卵形，基部楔形；子房略具微棱。蒴果绿色，干时黄褐色，近球状，直径小于1厘米，具4枚短尖的翅，翅长6毫米；种子具鲜红色假种皮。花期4-6月，果期7-10月。
产于大理州，丽江市和迪庆州；生于海拔1800-3700米的灌木丛及混交林中，常见。四川、陕西、安徽和河北也有分布。

Deciduous shrubs or small trees, 3-7 m tall; branches and twigs moderately sturdy, striate, brown or gray-brown when dry. Petiole less than 1 cm; leaf blade thickly papery or thinly leathery, variously elliptic-lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, 6-8 × 2-3.5 cm, widest at mid-blade, base subrotund, cuneate, or attenuate, margin finely crenulate, apex acuminate or acute; lateral veins 5-7 pairs, disappearing before reaching margin. Peduncle slender, 5-7 cm, 1 or 2 × dichotomously branched, several flowered; pedicel slender, 5-6 mm. Flowers 4-merous, less than 8 mm in diam.; sepals suborbicular, short; petals reddish to purple, ovate, base cuneate. Ovary weakly angulate. Capsule green to brown, or yellow-brown when dry, nearly globose, less than ca. 1 cm in diam., with 4 short and sharp wings, greater than ca. 6 mm when fully developed. Aril bright red. Fl. Apr-Jun, fr. Jul-Oct.
Mixed forests, scrub; 1000-3700 m. Anhui, Gansu, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Ningxia, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan.
This species was misidentified as Euonymus sachalinensis in some local works; however, it differs from E. sachalinensis by having smaller leaves and shorter wings, as well as being separated by a disjunct distribution.

匍匐灌木，枝或上升，高1-3米；冬芽细长，先端尖。叶纸质，卵形、阔卵形或长卵形，偶为长方倒卵形或椭圆形，长3-7厘米，宽2-3厘米，先端渐尖或稍钝，基部阔楔形至近圆形，边缘具细密浅锯齿或明显的纤毛状深锯齿，脉网细密而明显；叶柄长3-5毫米。聚伞花序梗长3-5厘米，顶端有3-5分枝，分枝长1.5-3厘米，最外一对较短；小花梗长1-2厘米；花淡绿色，有时稍带紫色，直径6-10毫米，4数；花瓣近圆形；花萼、花瓣常具明显脉；雄蕊花丝长1毫米以下；花盘扁厚；子房有短花柱，柱长约1毫米。蒴果长方扁圆状，直径8-12毫米，有4翅，翅基与果体等高，近先端稍窄，长5-10毫米；果序梗细长可达9厘米；种子椭圆卵状，长5-8毫米，棕褐色，有光泽。花期5-9月，果期8-11月。
分布河北、河南、陕西、甘肃、四川。生长于海拔1000-2300米之山坡林中或路旁。模式标本采自陕西。
Blakelock (1. c. 1952) 曾将纤齿卫矛归入乌苏里卫矛内作为异名，并认为乌苏里卫矛可能是黄心卫矛的变种。按乌苏里卫矛花序3花，花小直径仅4毫米，叶缘齿尖黑色，而本种花序通常3-5分枝，7-10余花，花较大，直径6-10毫米，叶缘齿黄绿色，分布西北、华北，二者不能视为一种，与黄心卫矛也并不相近。
