本属多数种类木材花纹美丽,淡红色至褐红色,质坚重,刨削后有光泽,宜作高级家具、器具、雕刻等用材;种子红色或亮褐色,可作项链、耳饰、戒指等装饰品;少数种类的根、枝、叶和种子,民间作药用。
