根状茎短而直立，直径约1.5厘米，顶端密被鳞片；叶簇生，二型，单叶不分裂或为指状三分裂。叶柄长约15—20厘米，直径约2毫米，禾秆色至浅棕色，光滑无毛。不育叶片或羽片较宽，卵状披针形，长约20厘米，宽约2.5—3厘米，先端渐尖，基部阔斜形，边缘具软骨质，下部近全缘或波状，上部至顶端有尖锯齿。能育叶片或羽片较狭披针形，长约20厘米，宽约1—2厘米，下部全缘，顶端不育部分有浅锯齿。叶脉分离，中脉禾秆色，下面隆起，侧脉单一或自下部二分叉。叶纸质，暗绿色，两面光滑无毛。孢子囊群线形，沿叶缘着生，具假囊群盖。
产于河口、沧源；生于热带雨林、次生常绿阔叶林及竹林下，海拔120—650米。也分布于越南北部和印度（阿萨姆）。

Plants 30-40 cm tall. Rhizome erect, short, ca. 1.5 cm in diam., scaly at growing tips. Fronds dimorphic, simple or 2- or 3-forked; stipe straw-colored to light brown, slightly lustrous, 15-20 cm × ca. 2 mm, glabrous. Sterile fronds: lamina (or pinnae) lanceolate, ca. 20 × 2.5-3 cm, base broadly cuneate or subobtuse, margin subcartilaginous, undulate, serrate upward, apically shortly serrulate, apex acuminate. Fertile fronds (or pinnae) linear-lanceolate, ca. 20 × 1-2 cm, entire, apex sterile, slightly serrulate. Lamina pale green, papery when dried, glabrous; midvein straw-colored, convex abaxially; veins simple or 2-forked.
Common in ravines, bamboo forests; 100-200 m. SE Yunnan (Hekou) [N Vietnam (Lao Cai)].
