多年生草本，高达70厘米。须根多数，肉质。茎直立，具纵向细棱，密被黄色短柔毛，粗壮，基部粗5-18毫米。基生叶早落；茎下部叶肾形，长6-16厘米，宽9.5-28厘米，先端圆形或凹入，边缘具三角状或披针形的锯齿，齿端具胼胝质尖头，边缘具腺毛，基部心形或深心形，两侧耳状，耳长2.5-6.5厘米，表面绿色，背面淡绿色，两面疏生短腺毛，掌状3-5条脉，和细脉及网脉在两面突起，叶柄长5-24厘米，被黄色的短柔毛，基部具鞘，鞘长4-5厘米，宽1-1.5厘米；茎中上部叶与下部叶同形，较小，长4.5-6厘米，宽7-10厘米，两面疏生短腺毛，鞘扩展成叶片状，与叶片同形，等大或近等大，边缘具披针状细齿。头状花序多数，排列成复伞房状，分枝长达23厘米，密被黄色短柔毛和腺毛；苞片和小苞片钻形，长2-4毫米；头状花序梗长2-10毫米，被与分枝一样的毛；总苞钟形，长6-7毫米，口部宽6-7毫米；总苞片8-10枚，2层，外层条状披针形，宽1-1.5毫米，内层狭长圆形，宽2-2.5毫米，具膜质边缘，先端渐尖，略弯曲，被紫褐色腺毛，背面无毛。小花12-15朵，黄色，其中舌状花1 (-5) 朵，舌片长约7毫米，先端具3齿，花柱长4-5毫米，先端2裂；管状花10-12朵，长6-8毫米，多少伸出总苞之外，檐部筒状钟形，先端5裂，裂片狭三角形，长0.5-1毫米，管部较短，长2-2.5毫米，雄蕊略伸出花冠之外，药管长2-2.5毫米，花柱与雄蕊等长，柱头2裂。瘦果长约7毫米，褐色，无毛，冠毛淡紫褐色，长6-8毫米。花期7月。
产德钦、贡山等地；生于海拔3500-4100米的冷杉林下或高山草甸。模式标本采自德钦。

Stem erect, to 70 cm tall, 9-27 mm in diam. at base, shortly yellowish brown pilose. Basal leaves petiolate; petiole to 24 cm, ca. 5 cm wide, shortly yellowish brown pilose, base sheathed; sheath to 5 cm; leaf blade reniform, 8-9 × 18-20 cm, both surfaces sparsely shortly pilose, palmately veined, base cordate, margin dentate, between teeth ciliate, apex retuse; sinus ca. 1/3 as long as leaf blade, broad, basal lobes orbicular. Middle and distal stem leaves shortly petiolate; sheath enlarged into a leaf blade, to 6 cm wide, not amplexicaul, margin laciniate; leaf blade reniform, 3-8 cm, to 10 cm wide, abaxially shortly pilose. Corymbs compound, branched, not spreading; branches erect, to 23 cm, fasciated, densely shortly yellowish brown pilose. Capitula numerous; leaflike and supplementary bracts smaller, subulate; peduncles 2-10 mm, shortly yellowish brown pilose. Involucre narrowly turbinate, 6-8 mm, mouth ca. 6 mm in diam.; phyllaries 7-10, lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, outside glabrous, apex caudate-acuminate, curved, dark brown, ciliate; inner phyllaries 2-2.5 mm wide, margin membranous. Ray floret 1, yellow; lamina short, narrow, as long as tubular florets, rarely absent. Tubular florets 8 or 9, 6-10 mm, wholly extending from involucre in fruit; tube ca. 2.5 mm. Achenes brown, cylindric, to 7 mm. Pappus brown above, purplish brown below, as long as tube of tubular corolla. Fl. and fr. Jul-Nov.

多年生草本。根肉质，多数，簇生。茎直立，高达70厘米，被黄褐色有节短毛，基部直径0.9-2.7厘米，被厚密的枯叶柄纤维包围。丛生叶与茎基部叶具柄，柄长达24厘米，宽约0.5厘米，被密的黄褐色有节短毛，基部具长达5厘米的鞘，叶片肾形，长8-9厘米，宽18-20厘米，先端凹缺，边缘有锯齿，齿端有黑色软骨质小尖头，齿间有睫毛，基部心形，弯缺宽，长为叶片的1/3，两侧裂片圆形，两面有疏的有节短柔毛，叶脉掌状；茎中上部叶具短柄，鞘极度扩大成叶片状，宽至6厘米，边缘具条裂齿，不抱茎，平展，叶片肾形，长3-8厘米，宽达10厘米，下面被有节短毛。复伞房状聚伞花序有分枝，不开展，分枝长达23厘米，直立，近丛生，被密的黄褐色有节短毛；苞片及小苞片极短，钻形；花序梗长2-10毫米，被与分枝上一样的毛；头状花序多数，辐射状；总苞狭陀螺形，长6-8毫米，口部宽约6毫米，总苞片7-10，2层，披针形，先端渐尖，近似尾状，弯曲，黑褐色，被睫毛，背部光滑，内层宽2-2.5毫米，边缘膜质。舌状花1个，黄色，舌片短而窄，与管状花近等长，稀无舌状花；管状花8-10，长6-10毫米，在果时全部伸出总苞之外，管部长约2.5毫米，檐部宽达2毫米，冠毛下部紫褐色，上部褐色，与花冠管部等长。瘦果圆柱形，长达7毫米，褐色，光滑。花果期7-11月。
产云南西北部。生于海拔3950-4020米的沼泽地、草地、林下、草坡。模式标本采自德钦（白马山）。
Handel-Mazzetti (1938) 在发表本属的著作时对张肇骞教授于1936年将本种改隶于千里光属 Senecio，并在其下发表了变种 var. robustus Chang 的事实未作任何说明，但却将该变种的模式 Forrest 10831引入他的种（正种）下。照这样看来，本种的头状花序不应是盘状，而是具舌状花。因为张教授的变种指明头状花序为辐射状，具少数小的舌状花。
其次，据俞德浚教授采自本种模式标本产地（德钦，白马山）的 Yu 10765, 10869, 8757,9227号标本，头状花序也具1个短小的舌状花。张教授发表变种时曾指出与正种的主要区别是植株粗壮，有分枝，头状花序有舌状花等。这些特征与正种并无明显差别，况且正种的头状花序也是辐射状的。
